Chances are your rug is more than a mere floor covering; it’s an integral part of your décor, and represents a sizeable investment. As a substantial investment, you want to protect it with regular vacuuming and professional cleaning. In addition to the sound economics of regular cleaning, it is also just one more way for you to control the allergens and airborne particulates in your home. Daisy Dry Cleaning & Laundry understands. We specialize in the old world methods of rug cleaning that are worthy of your fine carpet.
The rule of thumb on how often you should clean your rug is about once a year, depending on the amount of traffic it gets. However, our expertise and many years of experience have provided us with some more concrete ways for you to determine whether or not your rug’s cleaning time has come.
Is It Time to Clean Your Rug?
Pick up the corner of your rug and then either kick or tap the backside of the area you lifted. If dust is released from the rug, it’s time for a cleaning. Another way to tell if the rug should be cleaned is to vigorously rub your hand in an arc over the rug’s pile for about 5-10 seconds, then look at your hand. If your fingers and palm look and /or feel dirty you should have your rug cleaned. Finally, fold back a section of the rug with the pile facing you and look at the line of knots. If the warp and weft look dirty the rug needs to be cleaned.
